Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress, best well-known for her role in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Originating from Worthington Ohio she quit high school and moved to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents divorce. The year 2001 was a difficult one for her, but despite difficulties with money it was possible to secure her first big performance in the video online series Rachel's Room as the principal character. The role she played of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder, in the television film Murder In Greenwich in 2002 earned her an award nomination for the Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford played Shannon Rutherford for Lost's first two seasons in 2004 and was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award (with other cast members) with her. The show ended in 2005 and Grace was keen to work on film more frequently, having played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. Grace has been on Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club both in 2007 and Taken alongside Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version of the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised her role as Shannon in Lost, including the finale. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season that aired from 2013 to 2014. The character she plays is Faith who is both the star-gazer and a groupie. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of filmmakers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and is the younger sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She started her acting career in the teen years with minor roles in several of her father's films and appeared alongside her brother in the popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win the Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the love story Secretary (2002). The two movies were critically acclaimed. In the wake of several successful commercial films in 2006, including World Trade Center she received greater recognition for her performance as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). In recognition of her role as the single mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The subsequent roles she has played include Nanny McPhee and in the Big Bang and Hysteria. Other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent for the Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a vocalist in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title role. Gyllenhaal was the writer and director of her first film, The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. The film was also nominated for be awarded the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
